A lot of camera brands and models are around, and when You need to choose Your first or next camera, it can get very confusing. That’s why we checked out the camera market, the suggestions of other internet users and we created our top5 DSLR under 1000$ list. Five cameras, that interested us. We chose Canon EOS77D, Nikon D7200, Sony Alpha SLT-A68, Nikon D5600 and Canon EOS 200D).
So this is our list with five cameras DSLR under 1000$.

The first choice lies on the camera Canon EOS 77D. It is one of most expensive cameras in our list. Body is around $699.00. But with it's top LCD and double wheal control, 24MP APS-C CMOS image sensor, dual pixel AF system and vari-angle tilt-and-swivel LCD touchscreen, 6 fps, dual Pixel autofocus and DIGIC7 image processor. It gives very professional feel when You handle the camera. It will broadly appeal to the photographer and video maker who wants more hands-on approach, who must have an optical viewfinder, flip-screen and the best canon AF system. This camera brings Canon's Dual Pixel AF down to an affordable price point for enthusiastic photographer. It is light and quite small for DSLR, but it doesn't feel cheap in hand. It is somewhere in the middle between Canon D800 (Rebel T7i) and more advanced Canon EOS 80D.
As we would expect from a Canon DSLR, the controls are well-sorted and you can operate just about anything with your eye to the viewfinder. The display for Canon Eos 77D is touchscreen, what is a very nice addition for any photo camera. With it’s help You can change Your camera settings, change the auto focus point and slide through Your pictures.
One of the minuses for this camera, that it doesn’t have weather sealing, what would be a nice addition, but for this price it is hard to find weather sealed body.
If You are interested in something cheaper and something what have a similar feel to 77D, You should check out EOS D800 (T7i). The only meaningful differentiators between Canon EOS D77 model and the Canon EOS 800D is that it has the dual control dials, top plate LCD and the addition of an AF ON button. Second, in our list, is Nikon D7200. This camera body costs around $696.95, it depends of seller. It will be useful for photographer who likes sharpe, still photos. Nikon D7200 have image sensor without anti-aliasing filter and this upgrade helps camera to render sharper images then other cameras which have this filter. It is a rugged DSLR camera for serious photograph who will put his gear under the test of different weather conditions. This camera is weather sealed like it’s older brother Nikon D7100. Basically it is the same camera with upgrades.
Nikon added a large buffer for jpeg files – 100, and for RAW files 18. Nikon D7200 ISO range was expanded and wireless capabilities were built in the camera. This camera was announced in 2015, but it has not lost it’s importance in Nikon DX-format DSLR line-up.
This camera with it’s 24.2MP CMOS sensor without an optical low-pass filter and with an EXPEED 4 image processor delivers still images and HD video for every taste. Thanks to this processor and CMOS sensor combination D7200 gives top native sensitivity of ISO 25600, which can be expanded in black & white photography – dedicated ISO 51200 and ISO 102400 sensitivity.
It has video capability, in full HD 1080p video recording it supports up to 60 fps. The D7200 AF system have AF 51-point, with 15 cross-type points, for quick and accurate focusing in a variety of conditions. It has in – camera time lapse shooting for up to 9,999 frames. The D7200 have 3.2” LCD monitor, dual SD card slot, wi-fi and NFC connectivity so You can connect camera with a smartphone.
We think that every photographer who will have this camera will be very happy with it. For video makers, this camera can be a little bit challenging because AF is slower than in still-images and it does not have tilt-screen what would be nice, but for our opinion the weather seal is a good thing to balance out these minuses.
If You are interested in something more budget friendly You should check out Nikon D5600.

The third place - Sony's Alpha a68 DSLR. This Camera is an entry-level camera which offers many features found in bigger, pricier DSLR cameras, but in a compact and well-designed format. It's body costs around $598.00.
It’s image quality comes from 24.2MP APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor and the BIONZ X processor, and together they produce highly detailed images at sensitivities up to ISO 25600 and at continuous rates up to 8 fps. Plus, the sensor's shift in – body image stabilization system helps to take even more changeling photos by hand and You can use prime lenses without image stabilization.
Even the AF system in this camera is something special, thanks to the 4D Focus system and use of Sony's Translucent Mirror Technology, continuous AF can be maintained during shutting. Even though this camera came out in 2016, this system is speedy and accurate for 2019, utilizing a wide amount of 79 phase-detect AF points with 15 cross-type points that work at down to -2 EV.
The body which features both a rear and front control dial, as well as a top control panel for quick access to settings, will fit in hand very comfortably. This camera body have ten different customizable buttons and they can be configured to control a wide variety of assignable functions. There is a Memory Recall function. With this function You can recall up to three sets of distinct exposure settings.
Overall, this camera would be very good for enthusiastic photographer who starts to get more serious with photography. It has some minuses. Nikon D5600 will be perfect entry-level DSLR camera for photographer enthusiast who is interested in image quality. It’s 24.2 megapixel APC-CMOS format image sensor and Nikons NXPEED4 image processor is providing a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 25,600 and is capable to capture a fine textures and to render images with crisp detail. Plus, the EXPEED 4 image-processor boasts superior noise-reduction performance even at high ISOs. The auto focus system for this Nikon camera is quite descent. It has AF 39-point, (including 9 cross-type sensors).
D5600 does have feature live viewfinder (coverage of 95%), a large 3.2" 1.037.000 dot rear LCD touchscreen, who have a vari-angle design to better facilitate working from high and low shooting angles. This camera takes not just excellent 6000x4000 pixel resolution JPEG AND RAW(NEF) images, but 1080p video up to 60 fps to.
One of the most notable new feature is Nikon’s SnapBridge technology, which facilitates easy and automatic transfer of images directly from camera to smart device. With this camera You can quickly check the image on Your smart device and share it in Your social media with Your friends. It does not mean that You will be able to work with RAW(NEF) files on Your smart device. Nikon’s SnapBridge technology using a low-energy Bluetooth connection, batches of images (2MP JPEG versions) can be automatically transferred from the camera to your device or you can select individual images to transfer at full size, but not jpeg. With this system’s help, You can transferre video files too and this is what You cannot see in lots of upper end camera.
This camera maybe won't give a full satisfaction to a dedicated video makers, but it will be the best choice for casual and beginner photographers and video makers, who are looking for easy to use and relatively easy to learn DSLR. It is ideal for people who are looking for a first DSLR camera. Perfect camera to start learn how to take pictures with DSLR and later upgrade to a new and more complicated camera like Nikon D7200 or Canon EOS 77D.
Overall, this camera would not be ideal for Video. For photography, it is a very good entry-level DSLR camera, specially for beginner.

The EOS 200D (Rebel SL2) is part of the Canon’s compact DSLR camera line-up. Like other Canon cameras, it has newest features in it, like Dual Pixel AF, DIGIC 7 processor, Wifi, NFC and Bluetooth and new beginner interface option. And thanks to its small body and its vary-angel tilt screen it is easy to operate with this camera in different angels. This camera will be ideal for traveling and photographers who are starting to learn photography.
EOS 200D have 24.2MP image sensor and together with Canons DIGIC 7 image processor it gives native ISO 25600 and it can be extended to ISO up to 51200. In this camera You have just 9 AF points that cover a limited frame, but if you switch to Live View, You do get 49 contrast-detect focus points, what is very important taking video with this camera.
Like all Canon photo cameras, it takes still images in JPEG, RAW and RAW + JPEG max 5 frames per second and 3.5 frames per second with continuous Auto Focus. It is not ideal for sports or fast action (if You need something faster, check out Canon EOS 800(T7i) ), but for casual photography and video making it will be excellent. This camera takes HD 1080p video up to 60fps, what will give You a nice 50% slow motion Video capability. Max resolution for RAW and JPEG is 6000x4000 pixels. Canons image quality is very high and color scheem is very natural and pleasant, but this camera would not be the best for low light scenario. After ISO 3200 it can burn out highlights, but the image noise is controled very good and even at ISO 12800 You can get some nice images, if You can live with loosing some detail.
Overall, this camera is a good enough entery-level DSLR for casual phtographers and people who start to learn photography or videography. Video makers will apprisiate this camera more becouse of Dual pixel autofocus. Its video capebility is the same as Canons higer up DSLR like EOS 800D and EOS 77D​. For photographers drawback will be slow shutter speed and small amount of AF points in wiev finder, of cours in Live mode You get 49 point contrast AF.
